Back to the future

Published on July 7, 2010

lushlife-image1As the clock strikes midnight – while my dog pants in the background and the Mrs is sound asleep – I tend to some urgent matters. My mind is not at ease, it wonders, spins and twists itself into a million billion knots that turns into shapes resembling – for lack of a better comparison – balloon animals. Perhaps from outer space. As if there ever was an inner space. Or maybe there is. Mine is a dump right now. At best. I need to tidy up. That’s why I write. What am I doing right now? The weather is so great one tends not to crave nor need much else. A pair of swim trunks, a bike and a friend to talk to, while swimming or cliff jumping. No time for songwriting, when one can spend both day and night outside wearing little or nothing. Soon it will all be over, so why bother trying to create much more than a pleasant atmosphere for one self. Or perhaps this is the perfect time for self reflection. Perhaps this is the exact moment we should put pen to paper and write down all those beautiful ideas that passed through us just days ago. I spend a few hours yesterday hidden away in a concrete dungeon, playing a borrowed guitar and trying out my new songs joined by Mathias from Tiger Lou. He’s a master of most things. And he shall be joining me this fall when touring starts. He and a select few. At least I hope.

Next week … it’s back to work again … no more of this sleeping pill of a life. No more of this mental orientation of the What if’s and Why’s. No more of Slacker-Jack and his buddies. And last but not least; no more of this … it’s time to focus babe!

I found this rather inspiring. Especially the bit about ‘why bother trying to create much more than a pleasant atmosphere for one self’. Seems to voice exactly my frame of mind at present. Exciting times are ahead, that I can see in this post.

I hope all the preparation for touring is going well. I’m eager to see tour dates published and hope I can make it to one of the shows.

I should stop this mode of procrastination and also devote myself to some much needed work. Again, a very inspiring post. Hope to read more soon.

    Take care,
    Ricki
